The next thing I remembered was puffing up a steam cloud five miles from home and it was getting dark. Even through my earmuffs, I could hear wolves howling nearby, probably making plans to pick off this helpless idiot.

CHAPTER 1 A Kingdom in the North
I am thinking it would be fun to highlight one chapter a month of my new book,
‘Wakes and Trails into the Wilderness’
I want to share a sneak peek into each chapter without giving away too much. Maybe just a paragraph with a picture or two would be enticing.
Well here goes, let me know what you think, and please share with your friends.
CHAPTER 1 A Kingdom in the North (25 years ago on Whidbey Island WA)
....Whenever
I was alone I would suddenly find the pictures of Ookpik Wilderness Lodge spread
out on the table. I found measures of time unaccountable. Fingerprints smudged
the glossy photos and the corners had become rounded with handling. The
enclosed note asked me to please return the envelope with the photographs. But
I just couldn’t do it.

Canadian Children's Center Book Tour!
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND! What a fabulous adventure! Beautiful sunshine! Whoever said all the people on PEI were, “a kind and friendly lot” were not exaggerating in the least! The hundreds of wide-eyed, respectful students, I am meeting are full of excellent questions and excitement. What a treat! My hosts... the teachers and staff defiantly lived up to the rumors I have heard, “PEI, the smallest province with the biggest heart.”
